One of my favorite Ayurveda recipe: stewed fruits!
This stewed fruit recipe is so yummy and a perfect choice for a sweet craving.
A little over 4 years ago, I stumbled onto an online Ayurvedic cooking class offered by Maharishi University of Management online education.
This is the class that changed everything for me. I had my big aha moment when I understood the importance of digestion.
Until this course, I had been struggling with horrific digestive troubles that would wake me up in the middle of the night in sweats and indigestion.
This is where I “met” Chef Dominique who at that time was one of the chefs at the Raj, one of the most prestigious Ayurvedic hotel and spa in America.
He re-taught me how to really taste and enjoy food.
Chef Dominique said,
“The key to perfect health is perfect digestion, and not just digestion in the stomach, but cellular digestion. How well we metabolize our foods and convert them into the end-product. And the end-product of food is a substance called in Sanskrit, Ojas, which is the bio-chemical equivalent of Bliss-Consciousness in the physiology.”
This is definitely what I experience when I prepare this Ayurveda recipe: stewed fruits!
And it’s so easy to make!
Here’s how to prepare this Ayurveda recipe: stewed fruits:
Place all ingredients (except nuts) in a pot and add a few tablespoons of water.
Bring to a boil, cover and simmer on lower heat for 15 minutes.
Then remove from stove, let cool.
Remember to remove cloves and cinnamon stick.
Finally add the chopped nuts.

- 1 apple, peeled, cored and chopped
- 1 pear, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 4 prunes, soaked
- 2 figs, soaked
- 2 dates, pitted and chopped
- 8 cloves
- 2-inch piece cinnamon stick
- 10 almonds, soaked overnight, skins removed after soaking
- ¼ cup walnuts
- Place all ingredients (except nuts) in a pot and add a few tablespoons of water. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer on lower heat for 15 minutes.
- Remove from stove, let cool.
- Remove cloves and cinnamon stick. Add nuts.
